Location: It was located in the Arabian Peninsula.
Political Characteristics: In the year 732 they controlled Spain, Portugal, North of Africa, Palestine, Mesopotamia, the Arabian Peninsula and Western India. Caliphs were successors to the prophet with religious and political power.
Social Characteristics: There were several rules, attached to religion. Men can only marry four women, whose role is merely reproductive. They have a restricted diet that doesn’t include pork or liquor. Their major religious center is the Holy City of Mecca.
Economical characteristics: Taxes were the basis of the Islamic economy.
Cultural Characteristics: Their culture is strongly attached to their religion, dictating what they can and what they can’t do.
Important Characters: Allah is the main god. Muhammad was a Meccan trader who was supposed to be Allah’s main prophet.
