The Carolingian Empire


Location: It was located on the western part of Europe.

Political Characteristics: This Empire only had one monarch, and his name was Charlemagne, who was crowned emperor by the pope Leo III in 800.

Social Characteristics: Their order was: King, Pope, Lords, Knights, and the Peasants.

Economical characteristics: There was major interference of political authority in the economy. And because of the distinctive economic characteristic of growth some regions within the empire had a much more developed economy than others. The whole period is basically one of economic expansion.

Cultural Characteristics:
·         With the coronation of Charlemagne they tried to recover the power that the Roman Empire had.
·         The most important thing of this empire is that it represents the mixture between Church and State
·         It was little effective. (only 25 years)

·         The Frankish kingdom
